What are the Causes of Obesity?
There are lots of factors causing Obesity. Most common of which are enumerated below:
1 .Consuming too many calories
There are foods that would lead to weight gain. These are foods that are rich in fats and sugars.
If one consumes more calories than one uses as energy, the extra or excess calories will be stored by our body as fat which can lead to excess weight and obesity.
Too much consumption of the following foods may lead to obesity:
- Fried foods, such as French fries
- Fast foods like burgers
- Fatty and processed meats like hotdog and bacons
- Foods with added sugar such as baked goods
- Sweets, Chocolates, Cookies and Ice Creams
- Ready – made foods such as breakfast cereals
- Some dairy products
- Canned and Packaged foods

2. Unhealthy Lifestyle
Our Lifestyle has some contribution to the risk of being obese. Sedentary lifestyle is the best contributor. It is a way of life with little or no physical activity.
A person living such lifestyle is often sitting or lying down while engaged in an activity like watching TV, reading, playing video games, or using mobile phone or computer for much of the day.
Below are examples of sedentary habits:

Beginning in childhood the person becomes constantly hungry which often leads to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
How to manage Obesity?
Most of the causes of Obesity can be prevented. Hence, obesity is manageable. It usually boils down to living a healthy lifestyle.
Eating the right kind and amount of foods can prevent the risk of having obesity.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are good to our health.
Exercise is another ingredient of a healthy lifestyle.
At least 30 minutes of physical activity daily, like jogging, brisk walking and simple exercises, is needed to be fit. However, if you want to lose more weight or meet specific fitness goals, then you may need to exercise more.
If you already have obesity, then it is high time for you to re evaluate the lifestyle that you have.
I suggest that you start checking your fridge. Make sure that you have foods that are healthy like fruits and vegetables. It does not mean that you can no longer eat foods with high calories, however, you will have to make sure that you have to lessen or minimize your intake with those foods. In a nutshell, manage everything you eat for there is truth in the saying that “you are what you eat”. Anything taken in excess is not good for our health.

Commercial or Non- Clinical Programs are privately owned weight-loss chain. Counselors or support groups, including books and Web sites, are considered as non – clinical weight – loss program.
Physician – supervised Weight-loss programs are those treatments in a clinical setting with a licensed healthcare professional such as nurse, registered dietitian, medical doctor and / or psychologist. Such programs offer services like nutrition education, physical activity, behavioural therapy and pharmacotherapy.
- Surgical Operation –
Bariatric surgical procedures will cause weight loss. It restricts the amount of food the stomach can hold, causing malabsorption of nutrients, or by a combination of both gastric restriction and malabsorption.
